Jarrick Bernard-Converse, Oklahoma State DB and Louisiana native, commits to LSU
LSU landed a commitment from Oklahoma State defensive back transfer Jarrick Bernard-Converse, the school announced on Wednesday. The Shreveport, La. native has one year of eligibility remaining and entered the portal earlier this month.
“First I would like to thank God for giving me the talent and ability to play football,” Bernard-Converse said in a tweet. “I am forever grateful for my time at Oklahoma State. I want to personally thank coach Gundy, coach Glass and coach Duffie. Thank you Cowboy Nation for the past four years.
“I’m looking forward to my next journey at LSU.”
“A steady, established veteran with a nose for the ball and exceptional cover skills, @TheJBnard always delivers,” LSU head coach Brian Kelly said in a tweet. “The combination of leadership and talent he will bring to our locker room and to our secondary improves us immediately.”
A former Evangel Christian standout, Bernard-Converse made 48 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, a quarterback hurry and 10 pass breakups this season.
In 2020, the first team Academic All-Big 12 selection tied for the team lead with seven passes broken up. He ranked seventh on the team and first among OSU cornerbacks with 32 tackles, 27 of which were unassisted.
Bernard-Converse, a 6-1, 200-pounder, had a solid run with the Cowboys after enrolling in 2018, when he started the last nine games of the season. The graduate transfer knew what he’d miss from Oklahoma State.
