JD LaFleur left "speechless" following LSU offer

The crop of talent in Louisiana for the 2025 class is impressive, and one of the top recruits on the offensive side is Sulphur High tight end JD LaFleur.
On Wednesday, LSU welcomed LaFleur and his family to campus for an unofficial visit.
The goal: offer the rising junior a scholarship to play football for the Tigers.
Louisiana TE blown away by LSU offer
After a solid sophomore season at Sulphur High, LaFleur saw his recruitment begin to pick up steam this offseason.
College scholarship offers came in from the likes of Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Miami, Baylor and more.
That said, the news he received on Wednesday was arguably the biggest to date.
LSU offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Mike Denbrock invited LaFleur in for camp in June, where he was able to work out for the staff – and turn some heads along the way.
“They liked the progression I have made from last year to this spring, and then what they had seen in camp.”
Once LSU’s camp season ended, Denbrock dialed up the LaFleur family and asked them to come to Baton Rouge for an unofficial visit. From there, he delivered the verbal scholarship offer on the spot.
“They invited us to the facility (Wednesday), and Coach Denbrock and offensive staff greeted us at the door with the offer,” LaFleur said.

His reaction?
“I was speechless,” he said.
LaFleur now has the chance to follow in his father’s footsteps
For LSU fans, the last name is a familiar one.
LaFleur’s father, David LaFleur, was an All-American tight end for the Tigers in 1996 before becoming a first-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 1997.
27 years after his father played his final game in Baton Rouge, LaFleur now has an offer from the Tigers.
“I have always hoped for an offer from LSU,” he said. “I have been going to games all my life. My dad would take me and my brother and sister on the field for pregame. So yeah, it’s really exciting.
“This offer means a lot to me and my family. I have been going to games there since I was a kid, and obviously my dad played there. The last couple of weeks have been crazy, and I am just trying to process all of it.”
