Jersey Wolfenbarger set to return for senior season at LSU

Jersey Wolfenbarger is returning for a second season at LSU in her final season of college basketball, sources tell the Bengal Tiger On3. The 6-foot-5 forward from Arkansas spent two years playing for the Razorbacks before transferring to LSU last year. In her first season with the Tigers, Wolfenbarger was primarily the backup center averaging 4.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game with 24 blocks, playing 13.2 minutes per game with nine starts.
“I think I’ve learned a lot from this program,” Wolfenbarger said during the season. “Since being here, they’ve kind of elevated my game in different ways.”
Wolfenbarger had been a guard for most of her career, playing mostly on the perimeter at Arkansas, but after working with Kim Mulkey and her staff began making the move to playing down low. She got more physical as the year went on and showed her athleticism on both ends. Now, Mulkey gets back a rotation piece in the frontcourt that has the size and potential to grow into the position in her senior season.
The Tigers have added Kate Koval from Notre Dame and will add Grace Knox as a freshman this upcoming season, but the return of Wolfenbarger gives them one returning big next season. Sa’Myah Smith and Aalyah Del Rosario entered the transfer portal, while Aneesah Morrow exhausted her eligibility and heads to the WNBA. The Tigers’ staff continues to work in the transfer portal on more names, but getting Wolfenbarger back at least shores up the depth for now.

“I recruited Jersey [Wolfenbarger] out of high school when I was at Baylor and she played in a great program for Ricky Smith and she went to Arkansas and she didn’t finish the year and I contacted her,” Mulkey said before the year. “She came on a visit and she’s here. We’re excited about all the transfers.”
