Elite in-state prospect Lamar Brown announces 'Top 4,' plus commitment date

The recruitment for one of Louisiana’s top high school prospects continues to zero its way in toward a final decision.
Two-way 2026 University Lab lineman Lamar Brown announced Friday both his top four schools — home-state LSU, Texas A&M, Florida State and Miami — as well as plans to make a commitment announcement July 4.
“It is really those four schools,” Brown told On3’s Chad Simmons last month when he set his official visits with the Tigers, Aggies, Seminoles and Hurricanes. “It really came down to me deciding to play defensive line in college. A lot of schools wanted to play offensive line, but those four schools were the ones recruiting me the hardest as a defensive lineman.”
The first of those official visits is scheduled May 30 with Miami before heading to Florida State on June 6, Texas A&M on June 13 and wrapping up with LSU on June 20.
The talented 6-foot-4, 285-pound athlete — also fresh off a Division-II indoor shot put state championship — has been a standout on both sides of the ball throughout his high school career and garnered high-level recruiting interest on both sides as well, but has expressed more interest of late in playing the defensive side at the next level.

LSU and Texas A&M have appeared at the forefront of his recruiting process for some time, including several visits to each campus.
And Brown confirmed as much to Simmons last month when finalizing his official visit schedule, with the Tigers in particular improving their standing thus far in 2025.
“LSU is a little above A&M at No. 1. Florida State and Miami are tied after those two at the top,” he said. “At first with LSU, they liked me as an offensive lineman, so (offensive line) coach (Brad) Davis and (offensive coordinator Joe) Sloan were the ones pushing. A couple of months ago, I talked with coach (Brian) Kelly and we talked about the defensive line and how he likes me at that position.
“Since then, it has shifted to where I talk a lot to (defensive line) coach (Bo) Davis and (edge rushers) coach (Kevin) Peoples. I have great relationships with the coaching staff, I feel comfortable here, my mom feels comfortable, and that is why LSU is high on my list.”
Bo Davis has since left to accept a position with the New Orleans Saints, but LSU pivoted quickly to bring in former national champion and All-American and longtime Buffalo Bills mainstay and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kyle Williams as its next defensive line coach.
