Louisiana ATH Khai Prean reacts to LSU offer, eyeing summer decision
2023 St. James (La.) athlete Khai Prean added an offer from in-state LSU on Wednesday night, getting a chance to play for the Purple and Gold. That’s something he’s always wanted in his recruitment.
“I feel great about that one because not too many people get the chance of playing from the home state and representing Louisiana,” Prean told The Bengal Tiger. “I love LSU and they sit high on my list. All schools have a fair shot, but LSU is a school I always wanted.”
Passing game coordinator and Louisiana native Cortez Hankton extended the offer to the 6-0, 188-pound prospect. He checked out the program on March 5.
“Coach Hankton said that my game is smooth,” Prean said. “When I went to Junior Day, I was real interested in the small things that he teaches and focuses on like pad level and knees over toes and always steps wise. He’s a great coach.”
Head coach Brian Kelly is leading the way for the new era at LSU, which has Prean excited.
“I love the whole “Graduating Champions” thing he has going up,” he said. “He’s showing excitement on how he wants to turn LSU around and reset things to how it was in 2019.”

Prean said he’s not sure what visits he has coming up right now, but wants to see places before he makes a decision. That decision will likely come this summer, he said.
Prean is listed as the No. 256 overall prospect, No. 10 athlete and No. 15 prospect in Louisiana for the Class of 2023, per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine surged for LSU after the offer. He also holds offers from the likes of Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, Tennessee and others.
