Louisiana WR Kenny Darby announces commitment to LSU
2026 Bossier City (La.) Airline wide receiver Kenny Darby, a former Mississippi State commitment, announced his commitment to LSU on Tuesday, he told On3’s Chad Simmons.
Darby already amassed other offers from Miami, Texas A&M, Houston, Missouri, Tennessee, Florida State and others. On3 ranks him as the 50th-best wide receiver in America and the No. 8 prospect in Louisiana.
Prior to the game against Alabama, LSU head coach Brian Kelly extended the offer in-person to Darby. The moment was a memorable one for the young recruit, who received the offer firsthand from the Tigers’ head coach on a day buzzing with anticipation and excitement entering the SEC showdown.
“They came and got me and I went in the office with Coach Kelly and we had a one-on-one conversation, and then he told me I have an offer from LSU,” the 6-1, 175-pound wideout told The Bengal Tiger.

It was his first trip back to Baton Rouge since he camped at LSU over the summer. He has continued to speak with co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton along with Director of Recruiting JR Belton.
“The relationship has been good. We talk and FaceTime almost everyday,” he said.
Despite the lopsided loss that happened Saturday night, Darby said he still had a great time in Baton Rouge. “The stadium and environment was still fantastic. The energy was crazy. I definitely love the energy and crowd.”
Darby is Louisiana’s leading receiver in 2024, according to stats on MaxPreps. He has 1,330 yards and 20 touchdowns on 75 catches in nine games.
