Louisiana's new No. 1 prospect: Jesuit's Zyron Forstall soars up On3 Rankings

There’s a new No. 1 prospect in Louisiana for the 2027 class: Jesuit High defensive end Zyron Forstall.
On Monday, the On3 rankings team revealed the first On300 for the 2027 recruiting cycle, and Forstall made one of the biggest splashes.
Forstall is now ranked by On3 as the No. 3 overall prospect in the country, regardless of position.
The 6-foot-3, 235-pounder checks in as the No. 2 EDGE rusher in the class, ranked only behind the No. 1 overall prospect in Georgia’s LaDamion Guyton.
“Forstall is the biggest challenger to Guyton at the EDGE position and has some of the best sophomore film we’ve watched in 2027,” On3 National Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said. The New Orleans (La.) Jesuit standout is a banshee of a defender playing with elite effort and outstanding play speed. Forstall is hyper-disruptive while lining up at multiple spots within the front seven. At around 6-foot-3, 235 pounds, he makes eye-popping plays in pursuit, tracking down ball-carriers from sideline to sideline. The effort and play speed pair with physicality and emphatic finishing ability to make for a top pass-rushing prospect at this stage.”
LSU Football has already offered Guyton following his breakout sophomore season at Jesuit this past fall, and a visit for Junior Day coupled with the early offer from the staff has the Tigers sitting in a good spot as college offers will continue to roll in from coast-to-coast across the coming years.
“I grew up following the program, being from here in Louisiana,” Forstall told On3’s Chad Simmons. “The offer from LSU meant a lot. Getting that offer was a reality check for me to stay humble, stay on the grind and keep working.”
The 6-foot-4, 240-pound pass-rusher received early offers from Marshall, Nicholls State, Houston, Baylor, SMU and Ole Miss prior to or during his Catholic League All-District sophomore season. He has since added verbal scholarships from not just LSU, but Florida State, Texas Tech, Troy, Mississippi State, Arkansas State, Nebraska, Texas A&M and Alabama thus far in the new calendar year.
With the massive rankings bump from On3 on Monday, don’t be surprised if the list grows even more in the coming weeks.

For the Jesuit High prospect, there’s one thing he’s circled to help navigate the wave of interest from college coaches.
“The No. 1 thing to me is the culture of a school,” Forstall said. “How they go about football at their school matters to me and the stability there is important too. I am looking for a solid program that has stability and produces players consistently for the league.”
Forstall made visits to Baton Rouge during this past fall and for Junior Day this offseason, and he pointed to relationships with associate head coach/running backs coach Frank Wilson III and head coach Brian Kelly as notable early in his recruiting process.
“It was great to see the facilities and meet with the coaches on the visit,” he told On3. “I like Coach Brian Kelly and what he had to say about the path at LSU. He wants to have a connection with the players and to invest in his players, so they have success while they are there and beyond.
“I like their approach. I like him and how he makes it comfortable. Coach Wilson is easy to talk to and he has made our conversations comfortable so far.”
