LSU 5-star+ QB commit Bryce Underwood still On3's No. 1 recruit
With April’s update to the On300, LSU 5-star+ quarterback commitment Bryce Underwood remains the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2025 class.
Underwood was already ranked by On3 as the No. 1 quarterback and top overall prospect regardless of position, and he stayed put in the same spot with the latest rankings release.
Underwood committed to the Tigers over Michigan, Alabama and more, and the 5-star has remained firm with his pledge to LSU since joining the class in January.
In February, Underwood was back on LSU’s campus on the same weekend as a handful of other 5-stars, a group that included two uncommitted receivers in Caleb Cunningham and Jamie Ffrench.
“I enjoyed it a lot,” Underwood said. “I got to join a lot of the top players around the country and just recruit them, as well as me being there.”
This past weekend, Underwood made a second visit to Baton Rouge across the past month as he returned to Tiger Stadium for the program’s annual L-Club Spring Game.
Once again, Underwood made the trip at the same time as other 5-stars, which included LSU 5-star running back commit Harlem Berry and a 5-star wide receiver target in Kaliq Lockett.

“The trip to Baton Rouge was great,” Underwood’s father Jaquan told On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “Always a great time here and soon to be Bryce’s new home. We were able to see Nuss, Ricky and Colin put in some work which was pretty good to see, just thinking next year Bryce will be in the rotation.”
The On3 Rankings team has been high on Underwood since the start, and the LSU commit has a chance to go wire-to-wire as the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2025 class.
On3’s NFL comparison is former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, a 5-star and No. 1 overall prospect in high school who went on to become the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
“Bryce Underwood’s arm talent, ability to attack the field at all levels, functional athleticism and pedigree as a productive four-year starter reminds us of Trevor Lawrence,” On3 National Director of Scouting and Recruiting Charles Power said. “Like Lawrence, Underwood is a twitchy reactor to pressure and has a rushing upside at the next level that belies his high school statistics. Lawrence was taller and more polished passer, while Underwood looks to have a stronger arm at the same stage.
