LSU continued to fill out its impressive transfer portal haul Saturday with another big piece for the tight end room.

Former four-star standout Donovan Green announced his commitment to the Tigers after three years at home-state Texas A&M.

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound athlete played in 10 games, including four starts, as a true freshman in 2022 with 22 catches for 233 yards and two touchdowns.

But an ACL injury sidelined him in 2023, and he played primarily on special teams in his seven appearances this fall, with limited offensive snaps.

But Green becomes another interesting addition of size and experience to a Tigers’ tight end room that coach Brian Kelly, recruiting coordinator Frank Wilson III and company have had to rebuild on the fly this winter.

Only rising sophomore Trey’Dez Green, the converted wide receiver, is slated to return from the team’s three primary tight ends in 2024.

The 6-foot-7, 245-pound former East Feliciana and Zachary star played 191 offensive snaps in 13 games as a true freshman, including two starts, and caught 13 passes for 101 yards and four scores.

In early December, three-year starter and record-setting pass-catcher Mason Taylor announced his decision to enter the NFL Draft.

Rising Ka’Morreun Pimpton, a promising athlete who saw limited opportunities in two seasons, entered the transfer portal the following week.

But LSU has now added a pair of SEC transfers at the position in 6-foot-4, 243-pound Bauer Sharp from Oklahoma and Green.

And the Tigers signed four-star freshman JD LaFleur out of Sulphur in this year’s high school recruiting cycle.

The 6-foot-6, 245-pound multisport standout is the son of former LSU and Dallas Cowboys tight end David LaFleur.

LSU’s 2024 roster also included former walk-ons GiVanni Peterson, Gabe Leonards and Landon Craig listed at the position.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Peterson, who earned a scholarship in 2023, is the most experienced of that group, but primarily on special teams.
