LSU will face Arkansas on Sat., Sept. 23 inside Tiger Stadium at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN, the school announced on Monday.

The Tigers are coming off a 72-10 win over Grambling and the Razorbacks are coming off a 28-6 win over Kent State. This week, LSU heads to Starkville to face Mississippi State at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN while Arkansas hosts BYU at 6:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2.

LSU roared past Grambling this week, scoring on their first 10 possessions. While the defense allowed Grambling to get to double-digits, the staff was happy with the final result.

“We played the game the right way,” head coach Brian Kelly said after the game. “We certainly started fast, built great momentum, and asserted our will in the third quarter. I’m pleased with the way we played the game.

“To have 10 straights possessions to score in this game, when someone doesn’t want you to score, is really hard. You have to have focus, an attention to detail, playmakers.”

Kelly’s program sits at 1-1 entering SEC play while Sam Pittman’s program is 2-0. Arkansas is coming off an average showing against Kent State, but the head coach of the Razorbacks isn’t concerned.

“We talk about adversity all the time,” Pittman said. “We’re saying, ‘It don’t have to get there. We can just solve problems.’ But when you have a half, an entire half, of problems, it wasn’t a panic, but it was basically ‘they’re gaining three [yards] when we hit them.’ Basically, I thought we were getting out-strained, out-wanted to, and we talked about that and how we’re going to fix it.

“I’m trying to make something a lot better out of the second half than I what I really believe that it was. It was better, but it still wasn’t good. But I think they played harder.”
