LSU baseball adds transfer LHP Gage Jump
LSU added another pitcher from the transfer portal on Friday evening, in UCLA lefty Gage Jump.
The 6-foot sophomore from Aliso, California spent two years for the Bruins, making seven appearances as a freshman, including three starts before shutting down the season on April 24, 2022, and having Tommy John surgery. Jump is expected to be ready for the 2024 season after missing the entire 2023 season.
In his 2022 season, Jump had 22 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings, a 3.86 ERA, 1.72 batting average, and a 1-1 record.
In 2021, he was selected in the 18th round of the MLN First-Year Player Draft by the San Diego Padres, but opted out to play at UCLA. He was ranked the No. 43 overall prospect by MLB.com in the lead up to the draft.
