LSU Baseball leaps further up rankings after Tennessee series win

LSU continued its climb back up the college baseball rankings Monday morning after shaking off a forgettable midweek showing and rebounding with a memorable weekend.
The Tigers (36-9, 14-7) open the new week at No. 2 in both the Baseball American and D1Baseball polls after overcoming a frustrating 13-3 hiccup Tuesday against Northwestern State (27-18) to take care of business vs. highly ranked Tennessee (35-9, 13-8) at home during the weekend.
Only Texas (37-5, 19-2), holding the top spot on both lists for a third straight week, tops the Tigers in the last rankings.
The Longhorns and LSU lead a once-again 10-team SEC contingent, including eight of Baseball America’s top 14 and seven of D1Baseball’s top 15.
Coach Jay Johnson’s squad hosts Southland Conference-leading Southeastern Louisiana (33-11) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday before hitting the road at Texas A&M (24-19, 8-13) with games scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
