LSU baseball set to host Alabama starter Luke Holman
Fresh off the national title, LSU head coach Jay Johnson has made it abundantly clear that he’s back on the recruiting trail looking to assemble another talented roster for the 2024 season.
Sources tell the Bengal Tiger staff that LSU is set to get a visit from Alabama transfer portal pitcher Luke Holman early next week.
The 6-foot-6 right handed pitcher just finished his sophomore season with the Tide and entered the transfer portal on June 22. Holman served as Alabama’s Friday night starter and ended the year striking out 87 batters to just 31 walks in 81 innings pitched. He finished with a 3.67 ERA and a .186 batting average allowed in his second year in Tuscaloosa, closing the year with impressive showings against Wake Forest, Ole Miss, Florida, and Vanderbilt.

Holman started 15 games and has two more years of eligibility remaining, but can enter the MLB Draft after this coming season.
The Tigers are looking to replace two starters in Paul Skenes and Ty Floyd, two first round draft picks coming off of a championship run, and Holman would certainly help fill that void for next season. LSU has been linked to Chase Burns and now Holman, and after adding Texas A&M pitching coach Nate Yeskie, Johnson knows the best players and coaches are in the SEC and seems intent on adding more proven talent to his team.
