LSU Basketball brings Ronald Dupree back as General Manager

The LSU Men’s Basketball team has hired a General Manager, and it’s a familiar face in Ronald Dupree, who played for the Tigers from 1999 to 2003.
Dupree, who spent eight years with the Milwaukee Bucks and was working in an executive role in the front office, will become the first General Manager in program history, a move being made by programs around the country as the NIL and Transfer Portal era of college sports continues to shape the game.
The news was first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania with his post on X.
“Bucks executive and former six-year NBA forward Ronald Dupree is returning to alma mater LSU as the general manager of the men’s basketball program, sources tell ESPN,” Charania said. “Dupree spent eight years with Bucks front office, and now becomes among few ex-standout players as school GM.”
Dupree, who played at LSU under former head coach John Brady, was a three-time All-SEC selection, which included Second-Team honors his junior and senior seasons in Baton Rouge. He ended his college career ranked eighth on LSU’s all-time scoring list and sixth in total rebounds.
While Dupree was not drafted, he spent time in the NBA with the Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons, Minnesota Timberwolves, Seattle Supersonics and Toronto Raptors before returning to LSU as a student assistant in 2014.

By 2016, Dupree landed his first college coaching job when he was hired at Nevada. He joined the Milwaukee Bucks as a scout in 2017 and has been with the franchise since.
The hire of Dupree as LSU Basketball’s General Manager comes on the same day the program announced the hire of new assistant coach Yasir Rosemond, who previously served as an assistant coach at Indiana.
The Tigers have also been one of the hottest teams in college basketball’s Transfer Portal over the past week, adding five talented transfers in the span of seven days.
