After a comeback win over Auburn on Saturday, LSU broke into the AP Top 25, coming in at No. 25. The Tigers will host No. 8 Tennessee on Saturday inside Tiger Stadium at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN.

It was the first SEC road win of the Brian Kelly era at LSU. The 21-17 win didn’t come without a fight as LSU battled back from a 17-0 deficit to improve to 4-1 on the year. LSU’s defense locked in to stifle an Auburn offense that turned it over three times.

“Well, an exciting win for our guys,” Kelly said in his postgame press conference. “Certainly coming back from a 17-0 deficit on the road is not where you want to be but we found a way. It’s been the DNA of this group to battle, to fight and they certainly did that tonight. They found a way to win. Look, at the end of the day, there’s a saying in golf, ‘There’s no pictures on the scorecard. There’s just what you score.’ Tonight, there are no pictures on the scoreboard for us. We just found a way to win this game.”

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels was injured in the game, but could’ve returned. LSU closed out the game with Garrett Nussmeier at the helm of the offense, which mustered just 270 total yards on the night.

“He could have went. He’s a dual-threat quarterback, so he was a bit limited,” Kelly said. “Bursa sac with his knee, no structural damage. Nothing structural. But he was in pain. We will have him back. We are not concerned with it. He was really sore and limping around. I did not like the way he was moving out there, so I made the decision to take him out. He did not come out on his own.”

On the opening kickoff, LSU cornerback Sevyn Banks suffered a neck injury. Banks was flagged for targeting. More importantly, he was taken to a local hospital and cleared to return to the team. Kelly was encouraged by what he’d heard by the time the game ended.

“Sevyn Banks obviously suffered a neck injury, but he is with us,” Kelly said. “He will travel back with the team. We’re very encouraged. He’ll get some more testing. The cervical exam came back clean. Like I said, we’re very encouraged by the news and we’ll do a battery of more tests.”
