LSU bye week injury updates: Latest on Daniels, Durham
LSU is in the midst of its first of two bye weeks this season, beginning preparations for Ole Miss who comes to Baton Rouge on Oct. 12 in what promises to be one of the biggest games of the year.
Head coach Brian Kelly discussed a few injuries on his team in this off period as he met with the media on Tuesday after practice.
“You’re not going to get much out of me with injuries this week. It’s a bye week. We’ll have our guys for Ole Miss. We have two weeks here, so we’re not going to get into who’s probable or who’s doubtful. We got some guys that are banged up, but we’re expecting them to be good enough to go for Ole Miss.”
Here are two updates he gave.
RB Caden Durham
“He’s doing great. 100 percent,” Kelly said. “He’s doing chin-ups right now.”
Durham got rolled up on on his second touchdown score and limped off the field with an apparent lower leg injury, but was on the sideline the remainder of the game and initial reports are that he’s good to go.
WR CJ Daniels
“He aggravated a knee injury, but we got good reports on it,” Kelly said. “CJ is concerned because he had an ACL injury before, but it was not an ACL injury this time. Those are things, at first you’re concerned, but it turned out to be the best case scenario for us.”

Daniels has played the most snaps of any receiver on this team and has been an incredible steady and reliable presence on the perimeter for the Tigers. His timetable is uncertain according to Kelly, but it appears LSU dodged a bullet with one of its top receivers.
With Harold Perkins, Jacobian Guillory, and John Emery sidelined for the season, the hope is the significant injuries are in the rearview as the Tigers look ahead to the big games on their schedule in 2024.
LSU attacks the bye week
LSU continues to push itself in practices this week, looking to be better across the board as SEC play is set to turn up the intensity significantly. Kelly talked about practicing and the schedule for this week as well.
“We were in pads and being physical for two hours out there,” Kelly said. “We’re not at a point in our development as a team where we can tap the breaks. We just have too much development to be done. We’re going to give them Friday and Saturday off to recover, but we need this work. It’s important we continue to work on the things that have improved. We’re getting better but we need to take advantage of this week.”
