Sophomore catcher Brady Neal has entered the transfer portal, per reports on Monday afternoon, leaving LSU after two years of seeing rotated action behind the plate. Injuries plagued his two seasons in Baton Rouge after promising starts. As a freshman, h started the year, but played just 26 games with a back injury. As a sophomore, a shoulder injury kept him sidelined for a bit, limiting him to 44 games.

He had 116 at-bats this past season and batted .276 with eight doubles and nine home runs, making for an impressive .578 slugging percentage, however, he also had 35 strikeouts.

LSU’s catcher position is now wide open as the summer rolls along. Junior college transfer Blaise Priester will be in contention to start at that spot as a young prospect who was a junior college All-American last year. Also, LSU has signed Cade Arrambide, out of Tomball, Texas who is one of the best catchers in the 2024 class, but he’ll have the decision to come to LSU or go pro after the MLB Draft.
