LSU commits Dakorien Moore, Caden Durham shine, but suffer first loss
LSU commits Dakorien Moore and Caden Durham both had huge games for Duncanville High (Tex.) in Saturday’s game against DeSoto High (Tex.) in a battle of defending state champions.
It wasn’t enough though as Duncanville fell for the first time this season, 49-35, even as the heavily favored team going into the matchup.
Moore and Durham, who committed to LSU before the 2023 season, both had impressive showings. Moore caught seven passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns. He did so in just a half of work after being ejected in the win over Dallas (Tex.) Skyline a week before.
Durham finished with 15 carries for 135 yards and two scores, but Duncanville had to go to the air in the 2nd half in a comeback bid. Durham had just three carries for four yards in the 2nd half.
The LSU commits have been key parts of Duncanville’s big for another state championship after winning last year’s state title in AT&T Stadium.
Durham committed to LSU over A&M and Oklahoma on Aug. 10. Durham is the No. 113 prospect and No. 9 running back in the 2024 cycle, per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Moore is the No. 4 overall prospect, No. 2 wide receiver in the nation and No. 1 prospect in Texas.
Moore is now a Five Star Plus+ prospect. On3 national director of rankings and scouting Charles Power sees an elite prospect.
“Dakorien Moore’s five-star bump was one that was certainly a long time coming really dating back to the summer,” Power said. “I think he had a strong case as the most impressive receiver Cody Bellaire and I saw over the summer circuit. He was phenomenal at the OT7 Finals then backed that up again at Future 50 so we came into the season with pretty high expectations.
“He’s probably even exceeded those expectations so far. There’s a lot of very strong receivers in high school football, but he’s in that conversation with the best.”
Duncanville responds! The Panthers scored their 1st TD of game on a run from Caden Durham. Durham scored the 2-pt conversion as well to tie the game.
