LSU DB Javien Toviano reinstated to team as fall camp begins
LSU sophomore cornerback Javien Toviano, who was recently dismissed from team activities in connection to an ongoing legal situation, was present for the opening day of fall camp on August 1, though he didn’t participate in practice.
“Javien has been reinstated by the university,” LSU head coach Brian Kelly said following Thursday’s first practice. “He is back in football activities. We will get him going again and back in the mix. He will be a competitive player for us. He played for us last year (as a freshman). We will get him going as he works through his legal matters.”
Toviano, who turned himself in to East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office authorities on July 21 after being accused of video voyeurism, is accused of recording himself having sex with a woman without her consent, according to the arrest warrant obtained by The Advocate/NOLA.com.
The report stated the accuser told detectives she found videos of the two on Toviano’s iPad that were recorded on a clock with a built-in camera placed near the bed. In an interview with detectives, Toviano admitted to using a hidden camera inside the clock to record the sexual encounters, the arrest warrant says. Toviano was immediately suspended from all LSU football team activities in accordance with departmental policy, the school confirmed.
Now, the sophomore is back with the team as fall camp begins in Baton Rouge. During spring practices, Toviano worked at cornerback after seeing the bulk of his playing time at the position a year ago.

FAU sources respond to Ray Lewis report from ESPN
He appeared in every game as a freshman for LSU this past season, making three starts over the team’s final five games. He finished the season with 33 tackles and a pass breakup, though he also battled through injury that kept him off the field for different stretches of time.
“I kind of played in the background for most of the season, but I still came to practice, practiced hard,” Toviano said this spring. “When it was my time to really go out there, I felt prepared and really felt ready to go. Then one thing that I’m kind of looking forward to build off of last season is just being competitive and showing I can really go out there and compete and play with the best of the best.”
Toviano signed with LSU in the 2023 class, where he left high school in Texas as the No. 5 safety in the class and No. 59 overall prospect in the country.
