LSU DL Bryce Langston enters NCAA Transfer Portal
LSU redshirt sophomore Bryce Langston is expected to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, he said on Instagram following the 2023 season in Baton Rouge. He played against Grambling this season, making two tackles.
Langston signed with LSU as a four-star in the 2021 class, committing to head coach Ed Orgeron as a Top 15 edge rusher on the On3 Industry Rankings. He was also ranked as the No. 151 overall prospect in the country.
Langston took a redshirt in 2021 after appearing in just one game against Central Michigan. He then saw action in two games in 2022, making appearances against both Southern and New Mexico during non-conference play. He logged one tackle on the year and was in on a sack.
With a number of returning defensive lineman, as well as a number of transfer additions, Langston found himself buried on the depth chart this fall.
Langston is the third scholarship player to announce their entry into the portal, following running back Armoni Goodwin and cornerback Laterrance Welch who announced last week.

Transfer portal background information
The NCAA Transfer Portal, which covers every NCAA sport at the Division I, II and III levels, is a private database with names of student-athletes who wish to transfer. It is not accessible to the public.
The portal has been around since Oct. 15, 2018 and the new calendar cycle within the portal begins each August. For example, the 2021-22 cycle started Aug. 1. During the 2020-21 cycle, 2,626 FBS football players entered the transfer portal (including walk-ons). That comes after 1,681 entered during the 2019-20 cycle and 1,709 during the abbreviated 2018-19 cycle.
In comparison, 1,833 Division I basketball players entered the portal during the 2020-21 cycle after totals of 1,020 in 2019-20 and 1,063 in 2018-19.
