LSU DL commit gets familiar with Jimmy Lindsey
LSU head coach Brian Kelly was tasked with hiring a new defensive line coach this offseason following Jamar Cain’s departure to the NFL.
After more than a month of interviews, Kelly circled South Carolina defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey as the newest hire in Baton Rouge.
Lindsey, who previously crossed career paths with LSU defensive coordinator Matt House, took part in his first LSU OL/DL Camp on Friday.
Among the top names in attendance: LSU defensive line commitment Ahmad Breaux.
Breaux gets an up-close view of Lindsey – on and off the field
With Lindsey becoming the newest hire to the staff, current commitments and top targets are beginning to build a relationship with the veteran defensive line coach.
This past weekend, Breaux had the chance to not just get coached by Lindsey during camp, but also spend time growing a relationship away from the football field.
“Spending time with Coach Lindsey off the field was amazing,” Breaux said. “I really got to bond with him, and it allowed us to learn about each other. He’s a great man and an equally as great coach; the type of person that you would wish to have on your side.
“Our bond instantly clicked and we got tight. Those days were great experiences and I look forward to having more.”
When it came to on-field drills, Breaux said he felt his game grow even more in just a day’s worth of hands-on teaching from Lindsey.
“It felt like I was truly being coached by someone who wanted me to get better,” Breaux said. “Coach Lindsey coaches hard, and he directs you in the right direction so you truly get everything you can out of it.
“He really fits the coaching style I’m used to at my high school, because at Ruston they coach in a very similar way. I really feel like I got better that day while working with him.”

LSU building momentum in Louisiana’s 2024 class
The On3 Top 10 in Louisiana features an impressive crop of prospects who have reeled in offers from teams around the country.
Breaux is among On3’s Top 10 players in the state, and he is one of five prospects already committed to LSU.
The other five recruits remain uncommitted, though it’s worth noting the Tigers hold the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) lead for them all.
That includes four-star safety Joel Rogers, who joined Breaux and many others on campus for an unofficial visit this past weekend.
The Tigers already popped a number of Top 10 Louisiana recruits this offseason, including Breaux, four-star tight end Trey’Dez Green, Denham Springs four-star safety Dashawn McBryde, Lafayette Christian Academy four-star cornerback Ju’Juan Johnson and Destrehan three-star linebacker Kolaj Cobbins.
“It feels great knowing that these other great players in the state can continue their legacy at home,” Breaux said. “Playing in the place that you were raised and putting on for your city is what makes playing at LSU so special, and we need more home guys like Joel and (Dominick McKinley) from Acadiana to hop in this class.
“Making your home state better is a feeling like no other, and I feel like they can help us do that.”
