LSU Football's No. 1 recruiting class keeps adding elite talent

With Monday’s commitment from 4-star Havon Finney, LSU Football’s grip on the No. 1 class on the On3 Industry Team Football Recruiting Rankings got stronger.
Finney, who made a surprise reveal with his commitment to LSU on Monday afternoon, became the first cornerback commit and 10th player to join the program’s top-ranked recruiting class for the current 2026 cycle.
As a borderline Top 50 prospect on the On3 Industry Rankings, Finney is LSU’s third-highest rated commitment despite reclassifying from the 2027 class into the current 2026 class – meaning the 4-star cornerback moved ahead a year in high school and will be a senior this fall at Sierra Canyon in Los Angeles.
The lone LSU commits ranked ahead of Finney ahead of the summer months are Louisiana’s Richard Anderson and Mississippi’s Tristen Keys. Anderson is ranked as the No. 1 defensive lineman in the country, while Keys is ranked as the nation’s No. 1 wide receiver prospect.
LSU beat out Southern Cal, Michigan, Oregon and more for Finney, who committed to the Tigers and LSU secondary coach Corey Raymond before making his verbal pledge public this week. Finney’s surprise announcement came when he was set to release his top three teams, but instead announced his commitment to LSU – which came on his mother’s birthday.
Finney is the No. 55 overall prospect and No. 7 CB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 9 player in California.

Finney is the third defensive back in the class, joining 4-star safety Aiden Hall and and 4-star safety Dylan Purter. He becomes the first cornerback to join Raymond’s room for the current 2026 recruiting cycle, though that could soon change.
LSU was the team out front on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) for Finney, and the Tigers are also the On3 RPM leader for fellow 2026 cornerbacks Dezyrian Ellis and Hayward Howard Jr., who are both rising seniors in Louisiana who hold offers from Raymond and LSU.
He now joins LSU’s No. 1 ranked class, a spot the Tigers have held on the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings for nearly two months. Finney is the fifth Top 100 prospect to join the fold in Baton Rouge as LSU’s staff continues to build on an impressive haul this recruiting cycle, joining Keys, Anderson, Hall, and Louisiana 4-star and Top 10 wide receiver Jabari Mack.
Perhaps even more impressive, 9 of LSU’s 10 commits are currently ranked inside the On300.
