LSU hosting 4-star DB Cai Bates for official visit
2024 Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater cornerback Cai Bates is taking in an LSU official visit this weekend, the last of his official visit run in June.
LSU cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples, head coach Brian Kelly and the whole staff is turning up the heat in a big way. This weekend will be another chance for the Tigers to climb up his list.
“They’ve been doing great. They have a great relationship with my whole family, down to my grandma,” Bates said in May. “Talk to the whole staff constantly. Coach Steeps, coach Kelly, talk to them often. They’re definitely a program on the rise right now.
“Them being DBU, they also have a great resume with that, even though coach Raymond left, it’s still DBU. Definitely a cool program. They just let it be known that I’m basically their No. 1 guy right now. I’m No. 1 on their board. I talk to them all the time.

Summer decision planned for Bates
He’s taken official visits to Alabama, Florida State and Tennessee. LSU’s been pushing hard to land the Sunshine State prospect, who plans to make a decision soon.
“I’m not going to make an emotional decision, I’m going to really go into and lay all the facts out,” Bates said. “Lay out the certain standards for myself, put out all the plans that each school has for me and see what really fits me best.”
LSU leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Bates ranks as the No. 110 overall prospect and No. 16 cornerback in America.
