LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels has caught the attention of college football fans from coast-to-coast with a remarkable 2023 season.

Daniels averages an NCAA-best 417 yards per game, and he’s the lone player in college football to have eclipsed the 4,000-yard mark this season and the lone player averaging more than 400 yards per game.

With more touchdowns accounted for (46) than anyone in college football, Daniels is the current frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy.

For head coach Brian Kelly, it’s opened new doors on the recruiting front.

“Now you are starting to build a trend here at LSU,” he said. “That obviously speaks to recruiting and the ability to recruit elite quarterbacks to LSU.”

Now, the Tigers are set to host a 5-star quarterback prospect for his second visit of the season.

George MacIntyre returns to Death Valley for a third time

Nashville (Tenn.) five-star quarterback George MacIntyre is headed back to Baton Rouge for a third game in Tiger Stadium over the past 12 months.

One year ago, MacIntyre saw LSU knock off Alabama in overtime during Kelly’s first year as head coach.

During the 2023 season, MacIntyre was in attendance for LSU’s win over Auburn, and he will be back in Death Valley on Saturday for the regular season finale against Texas A&M.

MacIntyre has seen LSU join Alabama and Tennessee as the team’s trending on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, and one pick is on the Tide.

That said, MacIntyre has remained mum on which way he’s leaning and he closes out his junior season on the football field.

For the Tigers, the charge has been led by quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan, who has grown close to MacIntyre and his family after pushing for the 2025 prospect for well over a year.

“Coach Sloan, he’s one of the best out there. He’s a great recruiter, great coach, great guy,” MacIntyre told On3. “And I’ve really enjoyed being at LSU. I’ve got a couple friends down there now that are also recruits and a couple are committed. It’s been great going down there and I’ve talked to Coach Kelly quite a bit. It’s kind of a family feel with their staff.”

LSU hones in on a pair of 5-star quarterbacks

The Tigers are set to return Garrett Nussmeier at quarterback for the 2024 season, which will be quarterback Rickie Collins’ redshirt freshman season. LSU also has a commitment from four-star quarterback Colin Hurley, who plans to sign with the Tigers in December.

Hurley has been committed to LSU for more than a year, which allowed Sloan to set his sights on his top two quarterback targets in the 2025 cycle.

Fast forward to the final game of the regular season, and Sloan’s two quarterback targets are now tabbed by the On3 Industry Rankings as the lone five-star quarterbacks in next year’s recruiting cycle.

Michigan’s Bryce Underwood is ranked as the No. 1 overall prospect in the class, while MacIntyre checks in as the No. 2 quarterback and No. 15 overall recruit in America.

Underwood has a decision date set for January 6, and all eyes are on when MacIntyre will choose to shut down his recruiting process as Sloan and LSU continue to recruit the nation’s two highest-ranked quarterback prospects.
