As LSU prepares to head to South Carolina for a Saturday afternoon meeting with the Gamecocks, there are lingering injury questions surrounding the Tigers two weeks into the season. Coming off of a game against Nicholls State, the Tigers were able to rotate in a lot of different players, but now with their first SEC game of the season on hand, LSU will enter this game with increased urgency to avoid a 1-2 start to the season.

Here’s a rundown of all of the injury notes and what head coach Brain Kelly said about each one.

RB John EmeryOut for season

DT Jacobian Guillory – Out for season

On Saturday night, Guillory tore his achilles in the first half against Nicholls State and left the field in an aircast. He was ruled out for the season shortly after and leaves a significant hole for the Tigers to fill.

“He was a stallworth for us,” Kelly said. “Big, physical, point of attack guy. We’re having a conversation with him and his family about potentially a medical redshirt. In terms of rotation, we have some ideas that we’ll discuss in the coming days.”

TE Ka’Morreun Pimpton – Probable

Pimpton was out against Nicholls with an ankle injury, but is expected to return for this week’s game against South Carolina. Pimpton had an inconsistent season-opener against USC, but is still a receiving threat that could be a playmaker for LSU this year. In his palace, freshman Trey’Dez Green had a lot of time on the field on Saturday.

Dellinger was cleared and will be practicing on Tuesday. Kelly said he could have played on Saturday if it was a playoff game or a must-win situation, but they were precautious. Paul Mubenga and Tyree Adams got a lot of snaps in his place against Nicholls, but the starting lineup will return to normal this week.

WR Kyle Parker – Improving?

Kelly said Parker was making progress coming back from the elbow/Ulnar nerve injury he suffered against USC on the opening drive. He did not give a concrete answer, so I’d lean towards questionable right now, but we’ll see how he practices this week.

“We’re trying to get full strength back from that nerve that got pinched,” Kelly said. “I think he’s someone that could be ready by the end of the week.”

WR Chris Hilton – Day to day

Hilton continues to nurse the bone bruise on his foot and works towards being available. At this point, it’s been about three weeks since the original injury and Kelly still does not have a solid answer on his status. The most revealing part was Kelly saying that he’ll need some pain tolerance to get back on the field for LSU.

“He is ground based. He is running. This now becomes, what can you tolerate? There is going to be some pain associated with it, but he has all function now and it’s just a matter of time. Once he feels really good and can get in and out of breaks and function at his level, we’ll see him back on the field.”
