LSU lands New Orleans CB Ryan Robinson Jr.
The LSU football staff’s pursuit to rebuild the cornerback room in Baton Rouge has added another piece.
On Thursday, Edna Karr (New Orleans, La.) cornerback Ryan Robinson Jr. announced his commitment to the Tigers.
Robinson is ranked by the On3 Consensus as a three-star prospect who landed double-digit offers across his high school career. That included verbal scholarships from teams like Nebraska, Oregon, Florida State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and others. In the end, Robinson chose to accept a PWO offer to join LSU immediately.
Robinson said he will enroll at LSU on Sunday and be with the team for spring workouts.
“It definitely was kind of hard, but growing up watching all the greats come from DBU, I knew that I wanted to be a part of that,” Robinson said. “It’s not too far from home and I get to compete for a spot early, and I’m getting great development.
“So, that’s what led up to (my commitment). And, I’ll be able to get a good degree in sports management.”
Robinson finished his high school coursework at Edna Karr in December, giving the Tigers another cornerback to add to the roster for spring practices.

LSU signed one true cornerback recruit in Jeremiah Hughes, and the staff announced two more signees as cornerbacks in Javien Toviano and Ashton Stamps. Both Toviano and Stamps are versatile defensive backs who played safety at the high school level.
The Tigers also added four transfer portal cornerbacks with the additions of Texas A&M’s Denver Harris, Southeastern’s Zy Alexander, Syracuse’s Duce Chestnut and Ohio State’s JK Johnson.
LSU returns just two scholarship cornerbacks from the 2022 roster in Laterrance Welch and Sevyn Banks.
The Tigers have taken 11 total players from the NCAA Transfer Portal to go with 25 high school signees in December. Beyond Robinson, the staff also added a midterm transfer and preferred walk-on in Oklahoma State’s Preston Hickey, a Louisiana native who returns home after one season in Stillwater.
