One week ago, Oregon State linebacker Omar Speights entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.
On Thursday, Speights officially joined LSU’s transfer portal haul with his commitment to the Tigers, multiple sources confirmed.
LSU hosted Speights on a visit to Baton Rouge, which in turn led to his decision to transfer in and play for the Tigers during the 2023 season – filling a big need in the process.
The Tigers entered the offseason with just four scholarship linebackers for spring practices in Harold Perkins, Greg Penn III, West Weeks and early-enrollee Whit Weeks. The fifth and final linebacker on roster, high school signee Christian Brathwaite, will arrive to campus this summer.
Now, Speights is set to join the group at LSU for his final year of college.
Speights will be able to enroll at LSU for the spring semester and take part in spring practices, a source confirmed.
