LSU lands USF transfer pitcher Chandler Dorsey

LSU Baseball landed USF transfer pitcher Chandler Dorsey, he announced on Instagram on Monday. It’s the first commitment for the Tigers out of the transfer portal this offseason.
“Blessed to announce my commitment to LSU to further my academic and baseball career,” Dorsey said. “I want to thank God, my family and coaches who helped me throughout this journey! Geaux Tigers!”
In 2024, he led the Bulls’ pitching staff with 26 relief appearances as the team’s primary closer, going 2-1 with eight saves, a 3.60 ERA (12 ER/30.0 IP), a 1.20 WHIP and 40 strikeouts. Dorsey held opposing batters to a .180 average.
He appeared in 22 games as a true freshman in 2023, going 2-3 with a 7.40 ERA while striking out 30 batters. He did not allow an earned run in 11 of his 22 appearances.

LSU’s seen eight players enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, which runs through July 2.
This season was a roller coaster for the staff as the Tigers clawed their way into postseason play just a year removed from winning a National Championship.
“We held the trophy last year and I’m equally proud of my team and our program today as I was that day,” Johnson said after the season-ending loss to North Carolina. “Where we were in the middle of SEC play to right now is one of the most gratifying coaching years of my entire life. To come out of that the way we came out of that, nobody does that, and to take these guys [to the end].”
