LSU LB commit Charles Ross soars up On300 rankings
LSU linebacker commitment Charles Ross made a big jump in the On300 Rankings in February, going from unranked to a 4-star and On300 prospect.
Two months later, the Houston (Texas) standout and rising senior at North Shore made another big jump in the On3 rankings.
On Monday, Ross was one of the big risers in April’s On300 update, going from the No. 27 linebacker to the No. 18 linebacker in the 2025 class. Ross also moved up nearly 100 spots in the overall rankings, now checking in as the No. 180 overall prospect in the country, regardless of position.
Ross showed plenty of promise on the field as a junior this past season, and he’s torn apart the track this offseason, which included an impressive 10.48 wind-legal 100-meter dash at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds.
LSU first-year defensive coordinator and linebacker coach Blake Baker, a fellow Houston native, landed a commitment from Ross on March 9.
“I loved it,” Ross told The Bengal Tiger staff. “I loved that the coaching staff was very personable and made me feel at home. Coach Baker told me that a player with my skill set and athleticism has the ability to play any of the three linebacker positions in his defense.

“I’m closing my recruiting. I just got off the phone with Coach Kelly. I’m committed. LSU is home now.”
With Baker jumping on Ross before any other SEC offers arrived, the bond between the two has strengthened over the past few months, and Ross was back in Baton Rouge again this past weekend for the annual LSU L-Club Spring Game.
“Coach Baker has been an inspiration,” Ross said. “We communicate on a regular basis. Our relationship has grown from him being a recruiter to him becoming a mentor to me.”
As a junior for North Shore High, Ross totaled 71 tackles to go along with six sacks, two pass breakups, two interceptions and a pick-six.
