LSU LB commit Xavier Atkins up for 2023 Mr. Texas Football
LSU linebacker commit Xavier Atkins is up for the 2024 Mr. Texas Football, the top individual award in the state of Texas. The Humble (Tex.) Summer Creek standout is a finalist and also set for a state championship game vs. DeSoto on Saturday.
Mr. Texas Football annually names the most outstanding high school football player in the state of Texas. Fans can cast their vote as to who should be named Mr. Texas Football until Monday, Dec. 18 at 11:59 p.m. HERE. The winner will be announced prior to the TaxAct Texas Bowl between Oklahoma State and Texas A&M on Dec. 27.
The other finalists are DeSoto QB DJ Bailey, Galena Park North Shore QB Kaleb Bailey, Timpson ATH Terry Bussey, Hutto QB Will Hammond, Aledo QB Hauss Hejny, Lake Belton WR Micah Hudson, Willis QB DJ Lagway, Sunray QB Armando Lujan and Benjamin ATH Grayson Rigdon.
Atkins has made a big impact on Summer Creek already and hopes to nab a state championship.
“Man, being at Summer Creek, it’s a privilege because the community we have and the people that pour into us, the way we buy in, it’s amazing at Summer Creek. Me overall as a football player now,” Atkins said. “Bro, I know how to tackle now. I know how to read (offenses). I got stronger. I’m repping like 315. Summer Creek is a football program overall.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Atkins ranks as the No. 311 overall prospect in the country, No. 26 linebacker in the nation and No. 49 prospect in Texas.
