Olivia Vukosa, the No. 4 player in the country released her top seven teams on Thursday morning and LSU made the cut. The Tigers are seen as one of the top competitors in her recruitment this year but have ample competition at the top.

LSU is joined by Texas, UConn, South Carolina, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Ohio State in Vukosa’s top seven in what will be one of the biggest recruiting battles of the year.

Vukosa took an unofficial visit to LSU on Nov. 9 and over the past six months LSU has been to several of her games and been in constant contact with the five-star forward from Croatia. She’s now playing at Christ The King Regional school in Whitestone, New York and the Tigers were at multiple tournaments and major games in her junior season.

At 6-foot-5, Vukosa is an elite scoring prospect and a talent that LSU desperately needs in this 2026 class as it looks to rebuild its frontcourt for the future. Last month, I reported Vukosa was undoubtedly one of LSU’s top prospects on their board and the hope is to schedule an official visit for the fall soon to lock her in.

At the 2024 Fiba U17 Women’s Basketball world Cup, Vukosa averaged 19.4 points, 15.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in seven games, further proving that she’s one of the top prospects in the world for her age.

After signing the No. 1 class in the country, Kim Mulkey, Gary Redus, and all of LSU’s staff look to continue to build depth for the future with multiple top-end recruiting classes in order to compete with South Carolina, Texas and the top teams i the country year over year. Mulkey flipped this program with the transfer portal and now looks to sustain that success with high school talent.

“We signed a great, talented group that play every position but a back to the basket five player,” Mulkey said on Signing Day in 2024. “Those are hard to come by. If you want to criticize a back to the basket five player, go find me one to recruit, they don’t make them like that very often.”

Well, they might have found one in Vukosa and it’s all hands on deck to try to get her signed to Baton Rouge by the end of the year.

LSU has several top prospect on its board including multiple top 40 players who we’ve talked about on the site throughout the past months.

“We’re always recruiting. We never stop recruiting,” Mulkey said in November.. “Sadly, the recruiting now is, you have to wait until the end of the season to see who stays, who goes, and who’s in the portal and that was never like that until here recently.”
