LSU MBB ends with a top ten transfer class of 2024
LSU has one of the top ten transfer portal classes in the country, according to On3’s Industry Transfer portal rankings.
The Tigers added three four-star transfers in point guard Jordan Sears, guard Dji Bailey, and guard Cam Carter, solidifying their backcourt for the season with experience and playmaking,
LSU only lost two transfers in Mwani Wilkinson and Carlos Stewart, both rated as three-star transfers by On3. Therefore, On3’s industry ranking is a result of the Tigers getting significantly better from the portal, hence the top ten ranking.
On3’s Team Transfer Portal Index utilizes the On3 (P)erformance score to measure a team’s production during the transfer process, compared relative against its roster and not a comparison against other schools. This proprietary algorithm determines if a school has improved its overall team talent, stayed the same, or declined in talent during the transfer window.

PG Jordan Sears
Sears was the No. 9 scorer in the country this past season and was efficient both behind the arc and at the rim. At 5-foot-11, Sears was first-team Ohio Valley Conference the past two years and looks to be the Tigers’ starting point guard for his final season.
“We are excited to welcome Jordan Sears to LSU for his final college season,” said Coach McMahon. “I love his toughness and competitiveness at the guard position. He shoots the ball exceptionally well from behind the 3-point arc and makes his teammates better with his ability to create off the dribble. We are looking forward to his arrival in Baton Rouge.”

SG Cam Carter
After two years of starting at Kansas State, Carter is another veteran guard McMcahon has added to his roster and could potentially start alongside Sears. In two years with the Wildcats, he averaged 10.4 points and four rebounds and hit 59 3-pointers last season. A Baton Rouge native, Carter is a key addition for the Tigers’ guard rotation.
“We are excited to welcome Cam Carter back to Louisiana to represent his home state,” said Coach McMahon. “We love his toughness and competitiveness on the defensive side of the ball along with his proven production in the Big 12. Bottom line, Cam impacts winning and we’re looking forward to coaching him at LSU.”
SG Dji Bailey
A do-it-all type of player who was phenomenal at the rim, Bailey started 24 games on a good Richmond squad and played 31 minutes per game, shooting 56.4 percent from the field. Bailey will be a graduate transfer with this being his final year of eligibility, but he has good versatility on both ends and projects as another role player with experience for McMahon to utilize.
“We are excited to welcome Dji Bailey to LSU and look forward to his arrival on campus later this month,” said Coach McMahon. “Dji had a terrific season in helping Richmond to the A-10 regular season championship. He was very efficient offensively, leading the A-10 in FG% and also carrying a 2-to-1 assist/turnover ratio. He is a disruptive defender who finished 4th in the A-10 in steals and helped anchor a top 35 defense in the country. Dji’s experience and leadership will be welcomed in our locker room this season.”
