LSU offered Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns transfer defensive back Trey Amos on Monday, he announced on Twitter. A redshirt junior, Amos has two years of eligibility remaining.

Florida, where former Ragin’ Cajuns head coach Billy Napier runs the show, also offered. Programs like Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Oregon and others also offered the 6-1, 197-pound defensive back.

He played three seasons for the Ragin’ Cajuns. In 2022, Amos recorded 36 total tackles (27 solo) with eight pass breakups. He had one interception in three years at Louisiana and 60 total tackles.

In 2021 as a redshirt freshman, he made 14 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and five pass breakups in 12 appearances. In 2020, he played in all 11 games, finishing with 10 tackles and an interception.

Coming out of New Iberia (La.) Catholic, Amos was the No. 160 overall cornerback in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

LSU brought in numerous transfer defensive backs this offseason. Texas A&M transfer Denver Harris, Ohio State transfer JK Johnson, Syracuse transfer Duce Chestnut and Southeastern transfer Zy Alexander were all brought in and on campus for spring football.

Now, the Tigers are looking at another with Louisiana ties to bring in for LSU’s 2023 season.
