LSU (4-1) will host Lane Kiffin and his Ole Miss Rebels (4-1) on October 12 in Tiger Stadium in what many might call a must-win for both teams at this midway point of the season.

The contest is slated for the primetime TV spot on ABC at 6:30 p.m. CT, the Southeastern Conference announced Monday.

Not only is it the first SEC home game of the 2024 season in Baton Rouge, but LSU will be celebrating 100 years of Tiger Stadium with over 125 former players returning to Death Valley for the matchup.

Brian Kelly and the Tigers are on a bye this week after easily handling South Alabama, 42-10. They have extra time to get healthy, prepare and watch film on the Rebels. Meanwhile, Ole Miss dropped its first game of the season, 20-17, to Kentucky in Week 5. The Rebels travel to South Carolina this weekend. LSU squeaked out a 36-33 win vs. South Carolina earlier in the season.

Currently, the LSU Tigers are ranked No. 12 in the latest Coaches Poll and No. 13 in the AP Top 25. Ole Miss is at No. 11 in the Coaches and No. 12 in the AP.

Last season, Ole Miss defeated LSU 55-49 in a high-scoring shootout, with the Rebels’ offense proving too much for LSU’s defense. A win against the Rebels would not only improve LSU’s record but also solidify the Tigers’ position in the SEC and keep the dreams alive to make a College Football Playoff run.

In the all-time Magnolia Bowl series, LSU leads Ole Miss 63-42-4. With two high-powered offenses and a packed Tiger Stadium celebrating a century of football, the atmosphere is sure to be electric on a Saturday night in Death Valley.

This game has the makings of a classic SEC offensive showdown. Stay updated with all the latest LSU news and information on The Bengal Tiger and On3.
