LSU QB commit Colin Hurley returning to Baton Rouge for Bayou Splash
LSU quarterback commit Colin Hurley will return to Baton Rouge next weekend for the Bayou Splash, he told On3. The Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian signal caller has ben busy this summer with camps and tournaments, but has been in Baton Rouge multiple times.
“Great visit. It’s always good to get back on campus and to see the coaches and players,” Hurley told On3 earlier this summer of his latest trip to LSU. “This trip was all about helping with the recruiting efforts and I think you’ll see some things shake out from this weekend.”
Hurley was in Baton Rouge at the end of June with four-star targets like Jelani Watkins and offensive lineman Ethan Calloway, who were both at the time key targets. LSU hosted other targets that he was able to assist with as well and Calloway has now committed.
“I’ve built a relationship with a bunch of the current players,” he said. “They’re working hard, lifting and it really looks like things are going well within the team. As far as recruiting, you’ll see a few things come from this weekend. We had two great dinners, too — one at Tiger Stadium and another at coach Kelly’s house.”
Hurley continues to push for LSU on the recruiting front
Back in November, Hurley committed to the Tigers and reclassified to the 2024 class. Since then, he’s been a strong recruiter for the program ahead of joining the program.

After taking in multiple games, seeing LSU win the SEC West and getting more time around the staff, his message is simple.
“My message is clear,” Hurley said. “Coach Kelly is the winningest active head coach in college football. He’s had tremendous success throughout his entire career and we saw a glimpse of that last season – his first at LSU. When you look at LSU, you have to consider the program’s history, it’s fans, Tiger Stadium and how this place is gritty and kinda grimy.
“There’s just an attitude here and it’s not made for everyone. Playing football at LSU is a privilege. It’s just different.”
Hurley is the No. 293 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 17 quarterback and the No. 39 prospect in state of Florida.
