LSU rated top 10 offense, top 20 defense in College Football 25
EA Sports continues to drop information about its upcoming video game “EASports College Football 25” which releases July 19 after a 10 year break since the last college football video game. On Wednesday, EA released the top 25 “Toughest Places to Play” with LSU coming in No. 3 on that list.
On Thursday, EA went a step further and released the power ratings for the top 25 offenses and defenses in the game this year. There was no surprise to LSU fans that the Tigers ranked in the top 25 on offense, but a couple of hours later, LSU also made the top defense list for the video game.
Here’s what EA wrote in its release:
“The Development Team meticulously examined hundreds of thousands of data points to arrive at our team power rankings. With help from our friends at Pro Football Focus (PFF), the team analyzed all 134 rosters, thousands of players, years worth of game film, and mountains of stats, ultimately arriving at our Team Power Rankings.
Rankings are subject to change in future updates.
LSU ranks No. 6 in offense
The Tigers are rated 89 overall on offense, tied with Ohio State, Miami, Colorado, and Missouri, but behind Georgia, Oregon, Alabama, and Texas who are all rated 91 or above.
In 2023, LSU had the No. 1 offense in the country fueled by Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers, and Brian Thomas who are all now in the NFL. With those departures, there are a few unknowns as Garrett Nussmeier takes the helm at quarterback and new receivers step up. However, the Tigers also boast one of the best offensive lines in the country with elite tackle duo Will Campbell and Emery Jones who both project to be rated 90+ when the video game is released.
A big question for LSU fans will be the ratings of these new faces: Nussmeier, Kyren Lacy, CJ Daniels, Kaleb Jackson, Trey’Dez Green, Zavion Thomas, among others on offense.

No. 6 is a fair starting spot and something LSU fans would be happy with if it shook out that way this season considering the turnover and the change at offensive coordinator.
LSU ranks No. 18 in defense
A year after finishing outside the top 100 in most statistical categories on defense, LSU is rated as a top 20 defense according to EA upon the release of the game. The Tigers are rated at 84, on par with the six teams below them: Texas A&M, Colorado, Oklahoma State, Louisville, North Carolina, Kansas State, and Florida.
The Tigers return Harold Perkins, Bradyn Swinson, Saivion Jones, Greg Penn and a handful of defensive backs, but the departure of three NFL defensive tackles leaves a gaping hole in the middle of the defensive line and questions to be answered. The top-end talent perhaps elevates this rating, but a lot of the hope LSU fans have in 2024 is because of new defensive coordinator Blake Baker and his staff stepping in to make schematic changes.
LSU would be ecstatic to have a top 25 defense in 2024 and it seems EA believes that could be a possibility.
