LSU RB Corey Kiner enters NCAA Transfer Portal, commits to Cincinnati
LSU running back Corey Kiner announced on Monday that he’d entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, wanting to find a new chapter in his life, he said in a tweet. By the afternoon, he announced his commitment to Cincinnati. In his lone season at LSU, Kiner rushed 79 times for 324 yards and two touchdowns.
“I want to start off by saying that I really do appreciate the opportunity that I had to come develop myself academically and athletically at LSU,” Kiner wrote. “I am so grateful for all the friendships and bonds that have been created during my time here in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Thank you to all the staff members who I have encountered athletically and academically, you have helped me to take a step forward in my life.
“My time as a tiger has come to an end. I would like to start a new chapter in my life and explore my options to continue my career as a student-athlete elsewhere… With this being said I would like to announce that I have placed my name in the NCAA Transfer Portal.”
LSU head coach Brian Kelly ruled Kiner out for the rest of spring on Saturday with an ankle injury. Now, the Ohio native is entering the portal and moving on.
“Seems like a high ankle sprain,” Kelly said. “The early indications are that’s going to be 2-3 weeks.”
According to the On3 Consensus, Kiner ranked as the No. 153 overall prospect in the country, No. 9 running back nationally and No. 7 prospect in Ohio. The On3 Consensus is a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Corey Kiner leaves crowded LSU RB room
Former five-star running back John Emery, while battling an ankle injury of his own, emerged this spring after missing the entire 2021 season due to academics. With Tyrion Davis-Price gone to the NFL, there are plenty of carries up for grabs.
Armoni Goodwin, Corey Kiner’s fellow 2021 signee, broke a big run in Saturday’s open practice while Tre Bradford and Josh Williams continue to contribute as well.
The Tigers also brought in Penn State transfer Noah Cain. The No. 8 running back according to On3’s Transfer Portal Rankings, Cain spent the past three seasons with the Nittany Lions compiling a total of 806 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns. At 5-foot-10 and 220 pounds, he has the bulky frame needed to be effective in short yardage situations.
