LSU RB Trey Holly suspended from team following arrest
LSU freshman running back Trey Holly has been taken into custody in connection with a shooting in Louisiana, per multiple reports.
Holly turned himself into police and was booked into jail on Thursday afternoon. He was charged with three felony counts: attempted second-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property and illegal use of a weapon.
According to a report from Nola.com, two others have been arrested in connection with the shooting, which was at a Union Parish apartment complex.
The shooting occurred in the evening hours on Friday, February 9, and left two people injured. Gates told The Advocate that the investigation remains ongoing and there is potentially another shooter involved. He said to expect “additional arrests.”
The Advocate notes one woman was shot three times and left in critical condition, while a man was also shot once.
On Thursday afternoon, LSU released a statement that the student-athlete – which is Holly, sources confirmed – had been indefinitely suspended from team activities.

“We are aware that a student-athlete has been arrested in relation to a shooting in Union Parish,” LSU said. “This student-athlete has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities, in accordance with departmental policies. Out of respect for the judicial process, we will have no further comment.”
Holly is a freshman running back for the Tigers. He played in three games during his first season in Baton Rouge, tallying 11 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown. He also caught one pass for five yards.
Prior to enrolling at LSU, Trey Holly was a highly sought-after prospect, a four-star player. He checked in as the No. 261 overall prospect in the nation according to the On3 Industry Rankings, closing out his career at Union Parish in Farmerville (La.) as the No. 17 running back in his class and the No. 14 overall player from the state of Louisiana. As a senior, Holly broke the state’s all-time high school rushing record with 10,523 yards during his high school career.
