After beginning the season with a loss to USC, LSU has rattled off four straight wins, including a road SEC win over South Carolina a few weeks ago, pushing the Tigers back into the playoff picture and into the top 15 as the No. 13 ranked team entering the weekend.

Fortunately for LSU, it was on a bye this week, avoiding one of the more chaotic weekends in recent college football history that had four of the top 11 teams lose to unranked teams. However, despite the shakeup, LSU remained at No. 13 in the country and was one of just two teams to remain unchanged after the weekend, along with Georgia.

Meanwhile, the Tigers’ next opponent re-entered the top 10 as Ole Miss had a dominant win over South Carolina on the road on Saturday, jumping from No. 12 in the country to No. 9 ahead of the trip to Baton Rouge.

Three teams jumped LSU with Clemson moving up five spots to No. 10, Iowa State moving up five spots to No. 11, and Notre Dame moving up three spots in a tie for No. 11

What’s next for LSU?

The Tigers prepare for the Rebels to visit next weekend in what is now a top-15 clash and set to be one of the marquee games of the weekend. Coming off of a bye and couple of tune-up non conference games, Brian Kelly’s team should be well rested and poised to take on the challenges Lane Kiffin’s team presents.

A win on Saturday would move the Tigers firmly into the top ten in the next AP Poll, but for now LSU wil gave to be OK with missing out on moving up. With all of the uncertainty around college football right now, just getting wins is the ultimate goal as the playoffs are a ways away from taking shape.
