LSU has signed one junior college prospect during the Early Signing Period with the addition of Louisiana native Shone Washington.

LSU extended an offer to the former New Orleans (La.) Warren Easton defensive lineman in September. In November, the one-time Georgia Bulldog announced his commitment to the Tigers.

Washington is the No. 43 overall JUCO prospect and No. 8 junior college defensive lineman, per the On3 Rankings. He checks in as the No. 51 overall JUCO prospect and No. 7 defensive linemen by the On3 Industry Rankings.

The 6-4, 270-pound prospect was highly-touted coming out of high school. Washington had offers from coast-to-coast, and he was once committed to former LSU head coach Ed Orgeron.

Washington reopened his recruitment and signed with Georgia, spending one season with the Bulldogs and winning a National Championship during the 2022 season.

He had one tackle as a Bulldog, which came in his debut against Samford, his lone appearance for the National Champions.

Washington entered the NCAA Transfer Portal this offseason and chose to spend one season at East Mississippi Community College.

During his one season at EMCC, Washington had 31 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks en route to playing for a JUCO National Championship.

Washington, who is listed at 6-foot-5, 315 pounds, will bring a boost to LSU’s defensive tackle group.

As for his decision to sign with LSU after originally committing to the Tigers out of high school, Washington said the choice to return to Louisiana was simple.

“I haven’t been to LSU in years,” he said. “It just felt like home.”
