LSU has landed the most productive running back in the state of Louisiana’s high school history.

On Wednesday, Union Parish four-star running back Trey Holly inked with the Tigers as part of a two-man running back haul, joining Baton Rouge four-star Kaleb Jackson.

In 14 games played as a senior, Holly logged 305 carries, 2,633 yards and 33 touchdowns.

Holly set the Louisiana high school rushing record for a career with 1,228 carries for 10,523 yards and 146 touchdowns.

A review from the LHSAA State Championship

Trey Holly and Union Parish played in a state title game this month, and On3’s Sam Spiegelman weighed in with his thoughts by naming Holly one of the weekend’s top performers.

“Four-star Farmersville (La.) Union Parish RB Trey Holly’s record-setting prep career came after leading his Farmers to the promised land three years in a row,” Spiegelman said. “Undoubtedly, there’s no coincidence that Holly’s breakthrough sophomore season in which he finished fourth in the nation in rushing started this impressive Union run at the title. It’s sandwiched with Holly’s last hurrah in the Dome, in which one of the toughest backs in the country continued to pepper his lead in the record books.

“The LSU commit broke loose for a 63-yard run in the first quarter bulldozing through and bouncing off Many defenders before bursting through a cloud of dust. Holly finished with 156 all-purpose yards and notched his 13th 100-yard game of the season, not to mention saw critical defensive snaps at linebacker, where he recorded three stops, a TFL and a pass defensed. Holly is also the Farmers’ punter and averaged 32.5 yards with one pinned down inside the 20-yard line.

“Holly scored his 160th prep touchdown and heads to LSU with a state-leading 10,524 rushing yards. His physical running style has been a staple of great SEC backs over the years and only the state’s best defenses have been able to contain Holly in these finales. He’ll play a role for the Tigers sooner rather than later.”

On3 Scouting Summary

Trey Holly is one of the most productive running backs in the 2023 cycle. Holly has a natural feel for the position. He reads blocks, uses his initial quickness to dart through the line of scrimmage and consistently makes defenders miss at the second level. Holly has a compact frame at around 5-foot-7, 180 pounds. He uses the low center of gravity to his advantage in running through contact. We also see Holly catch the ball well out of the backfield, which is a good sign for any back, particularly one with a smaller build. He has tested relatively well in the combine setting, showing solid speed even though he’s not a burner.
