Details on LSU Spring Game format, TV coverage
The LSU Spring Game will kick off on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT inside Tiger Stadium with the TV coverage being brought to you by the SEC Network+ channel. It’ll be the first look for LSU fans at what Brian Kelly and the rest of the new staff in Baton Rouge have been working on over the past few weeks.
There’s going to be an added focus on the four quarterbacks that’ll take the field. Transfer Jayden Daniels, veteran Myles Brennan, second-year signal caller Garrett Nussmeier and highly touted early enrollee Walker Howard will all share snaps, Kelly told reporters ahead of the game.
Most important, Kelly wants the LSU Spring Game to show that his new team is learning how to compete at a high level, even if they’re butting heads with their own teammates inside Death Valley. It’s the final opportunity for players to make an impression before the summer comes.
“We’re still in that process of learning how to go from — and I’ve mentioned this a couple times to you guys — practice to competition,” Kelly said on Thursday. “There’s a rise in your emotional level and your focus and attention to detail and all those things that turn in from… what you do in practice, you can’t be thinking about it in a game. I want our guys to play fast and physical and that should look different. I don’t want another practice or we would’ve just stayed on the field and called it practice. This is really about watching guys play at a higher level. Once we get that, we’ll get them out of the game, guys that we know about and we’ll move on.
