LSU, TE commitment Tayvion Galloway part ways
LSU and tight end commitment Tayvion Galloway have parted ways, the Ohio native confirmed on Sunday evening following a weekend visit to Baton Rouge.
“After reconsideration, I have decided to take a step back and de-commit from LSU,” Galloway wrote on Twitter. “My recruitment is now open. Please respect my decision and no interviews at this time.”
He previously pledged to the Tigers since July 23, 2022.
Galloway is the No. 302 overall prospect and No. 17 tight end in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
The On3 rankings have Galloway as a three-star and the No. 33 tight end prospect in the country.
LSU’s outlook at tight end
The LSU football staff signed three high school tight ends in the 2023 recruiting cycle in four-star and On3 Top 100 prospect Ka’Morreun Pimpton and three-stars Jackson McGohan and Mark Mackway.
The Tigers return one of the best young tight ends in the SEC in Mason Taylor, who had a breakout freshman campaign for LSU this past season.

LSU also has a commitment in the current 2024 class from Louisiana four-star Trey’Dez Green, who is ranked by the On3 Industry Rankings as the No. 3 tight end in the country.
The Tigers are set to host California JUCO tight end Connor Gilbreath on an official visit this weekend, and Gilbreath is on track to enroll at a four-year college this fall.
What’s next for Galloway
While committed to LSU, Galloway went on unofficial visits to multiple programs including Ole Miss (May 9), Miami (Jan. 21), Ohio State (Sept. 24).
“I’ve always been interested in Miami and that’s always been my dream school,” Galloway told Izubee Charles of CaneSport on Jan. 20. “Growing up, I used to watch them all the time with my dad because that was his favorite team. Ever since they offered me, they’ve been pressing me to come to take a visit.”
“I feel like since I committed to LSU, Miami has been showing even more love,” he added.
