LSU visits Louisiana 4-star OL target Devin Harper
The LSU football staff dropped into Calvary Baptist in Shreveport (La.) this week to check in on a pair of the top uncommitted prospects on the program’s board.
On Thursday, LSU running backs coach and associate head coach Frank Wilson and LSU quarterbacks coach – and current interim co-offensive coordinator – Joe Sloan made their way to North Louisiana to check in on not just four-star running back James Simon, but also Calvary Baptist four-star offensive lineman Devin Harper.
Earlier this month, Harper trimmed his extensive offer list down to 10 schools. LSU was joined on the list by Ole Miss, Georgia, Texas Tech, Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Alabama, Arkansas and Tennessee.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average which utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Harper ranks as the No. 156 overall prospect in the country, No. 7 interior offensive lineman and No. 3 prospect in Louisiana.
LSU holds the early lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for Harper, who is moving past the midway point of his junior year.

“I like the staff and Baton Rouge is just a wonderful place. Coach Brad Davis, Carl St. Cyr, Sherman Wilson, JR Belton, all those guys. They’re on me heavy,” Harper told On3. “I feel the love from LSU, so I like it there.
“They’re back. I know they had a few not standard LSU years, but now they’re back up there competing for a National Championship.”
As for where his recruitment is headed, Harper circled relationships as a key factor as the four-star works towards a college decision.
“Just speeding up. I’m getting calls and text messages every day,” Harper said. “I’m trying to go through that, find my real relationships with all the coaches from all the universities and see where I want to go.”
