2024 Duncanville (Tex.) defensive lineman Alex January and his family head to LSU this weekend for an official visit. January is fresh off an official visit to Texas Tech with Florida State and Texas set to host him later this month.

The four-star prospect is excited to see the colleges that are at the top of his list.

“Just getting to see the places I like the most a few more times then I’ll move on from there,” January told On3 after his Spring Game last month. “If I like a place a lot, I might see if I can go back there during the season for a game. I probably want to make a decision at the beginning of the season, maybe the middle, but I don’t want to wait too late. I haven’t been anywhere really to have favorites.”

LSU defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey swung through this spring to check on January, who is looking forward to building a relationship with the new assistant.

“Really, I got to meet the new d-line coach. Eating some food,” January said of what he’s looking forward to about his LSU official visit. “He sounds like a good coach.”

Earlier this spring, LSU didn’t have a defensive line coach hired when the January family visited LSU. Brian Kelly and so did the atmosphere.

“We ate good,” January said. “I liked the head coach. He wasn’t like a regular head coach. I don’t know what was different about him. I really liked everything up there. I liked the atmosphere.”

On3 ranks January as the No. 217 overall prospect in the country and No. 21 defensive lineman in the nation. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the edge to Texas, where January’s father, Mike, played linebacker.
