LSU with most 2024 Draft prospects in Baseball America's Top 500
With the MLB Draft beginning on Sunday night and running through Tuesday, LSU’s head coach Jay Johnson will once again have his work cut out for him tracking all of his players that get selected. After having 13 players drafted last year, the third most all-time, it looks like the Tigers won’t be too far off that number in 2024.
In the final version of Baseball America’s Top 500 draft prospects, LSU has the most players on the list with 11, three more than any other team in the country. Of course, Tommy White, Luke Holman, and Gage Jump are the highest ranking Tigers, but Michael Braswell, Jared Jones, Griffin Herring, Justin Loer, Thatcher Hurd, Gavin Guidry, Fidel Ulloa, and Paxton Kling, all help get the Tigers back to being at the top of this list.

Then, when you get to the teams with the most high school commits in the Top 500 prospects list, LSU is even in the lead there with 13, tied with Tennessee for the most. No other team has more than nine of its commits in the Top 500.
For LSU, the top commitments include shortstop Konnor Griffin, LHP Cam Caminiti, RHP William Schmidt, LHP Boston Bateman, outfielder Derek Curiel, catcher Cade Arrambide, third baseman Kale Fountain, shortstop Michael Ryan, among others. Now, Johnson waits to see where his lengthy list of commits get selected to see if he can get them on campus this fall.

LSU is set on replenishing its talent pool after what is set to be the most players drafted in the country over the past two years, losing top players from a national title team and then another talented squad in 2024. Johnson has been aggressive in the transfer portal, adding top-quality players, but still prioritizing development and building a path torward a successful major league career in the future.
We’ll see how the MLB Draft plays out for LSU beginning on Sunday as a handful of LSU’s top players and prospects will be taken off the board.
