Former LSU receiver Kyren Lacy is reportedly wanted on negligent homicide and felony hit-and-run charges stemming form a Dec. 17, 2024 accident that killed a former Marine and injured two others, according to Louisiana State Police via Baton Rouge station WAFB report on Friday afternoon.

Louisiana State Police investigators allege Lacy, who declared for the 2025 NFL Draft two days after the crash, sped from the scene of the 10 am ET accident after initially causing it and did not report his involvement to police.

Lacy, a 24-year-old native of Thibodaux, Louisiana, is also wanted on a charge of reckless driving, per court records.

According to the police report, Lacy was driving a 2023 Dodge Charger on I-20 and “recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speedy by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated No-Passing Zone.”

At that point, a northbound driver in a pickup truck abruptly hit the breaks and swerved to avoid an head-on-collision with Lacy’s Dodge Charger, forcing a Kia Cadenza that was behind the pickup to swerve left, crossing the centerline and hitting a southbound Kia Sorrento head-on, according to the police report via WAFB. A passenger in the Kia Sorrento, Herman Hall of Thibodaux, was critically injured and later died at a local hospital, according to investigators. Hall, 78, was a former Marine.

From WAFB’s report on the website:

“A Louisiana State Police document contains the following allegations about the incident: As Lacy was illegally passing the other vehicles, the driver of a northbound lane pickup truck abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the approaching Dodge. Traveling behind the pickup truck was a Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left to avoid the oncoming Dodge Charger. As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound Kia Sorrento. Following the crash, Lacy drove around the crash scene and fled south on LA Hwy 20 without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash. A passenger in the Kia Sorrento, Herman Hall of Thibodaux, was critically injured in the 10 a.m. crash and transported to a hospital where he later died, investigators said. Hall, age 78, was a former Marine. Louisiana State Police said LSP detectives and troopers were able to determine that Lacy was driving the Dodge Charger at the time. In LSU’s most recent season, Lacy led the Tigers in receiving touchdowns (9) and was second on the team in catches (58) and receiving yards (866).”
