The On3 rankings team updated the 5-stars and more for the 2025 class as senior seasons wind down around the country – and LSU had another commitment bumped to a 5-star prospect.

On3’s release of the new 5-stars included not one, but two 5-star cornerback commits for LSU secondary coach Corey Raymond.

5-star+ cornerback and LSU commit DJ Pickett remained the No. 1 cornerback in America, while fellow LSU Kade Phillips moved from outside the Top 50 and the No. 7 cornerback prospect to No. 23 overall and the No. 4 cornerback in America.

Now, Raymond has commitments from two of the Top 5 cornerbacks in the 2025 cycle, which is the immediate impact needed for a room in need of an influx of high-end talent.

While the current On3 rankings expanded to 25 5-star prospects, the final rankings ahead of February’s National Signing Day will include 32 5-stars.

That gives the Tigers the chance to add a fifth-star to a fifth commitment, which would continue to boost LSU’s class ranking.

Ohio State’s impressive haul is headlined by commitments from On3’s No. 2 cornerback Na’eem Offord and No. 3 cornerback Devin Sanchez, who are ranked as the No. 10 and No. 12 overall prospects in the 2025 class.

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said what Raymond’s done since being hired in January is just what LSU needed in a recruiting cycle when cornerback was a top priority position for the Tigers.

“Corey Raymond has done a phenomenal job upgrading the talent in LSU’s corner class with a trio of commits who are all outstanding prospects in their own right, but also complement each other from a skillset perspective that fits LSU’s scheme and what Raymond looks for in cornerbacks,” he said.

“I can see a scenario where multiple, if not all three, make an impact as true freshmen.”

Power broke down the On3 rankings team’s view on each of LSU’s three cornerback commitments.

5-star+ CB DJ Pickett

On3 Ranking: No. 1 CB, No. 6 overall prospect

School: Zephyrhills High (Fla.)
Status: Committed to LSU
On3’s Scouting Take: “It’s a very strong cornerback class, especially at the top, in the 2025 cycle. DJ Pickett projects being recruited as a corner, and he’s a unique prospect at that position. He’s very tall, north of 6’3 and probably closer to 6’4. He’s long and rangy and has elite length and has high-end athleticism and ball skills to go with that. His wingspan is 6’11 and runs a 10.6 in the 100 meters, so at a traits-based position, he registers as an elite prospect in that regard. When you see how he plays on Friday nights, it’s even more encouraging with more than 1,000 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns and also plays safety for his high school. He’s not afraid to be a physical run defender, and compared to the other cornerbacks in this class, he’s both the most physically gifted and the most physical. That’s a really encouraging combination, and while he still needs to convert to corner from a technical standpoint, we don’t have any concerns about that because of his movement skills and athleticism.”

5-star Kade Phillips

On3 Ranking: No. 4 CB, No. 23 overall prospect

School: Missouri City (Texas) Hightower High
Status:
Committed to LSU
On3’s Scouting Take:
“Kade Phillips has some of the best physical traits we’ve seen at the corner position in the 2025 cycle. This is a guy who has elite length and a big frame. At that size, he can really move. He was a state finalist in the long jump in Texas, and you see that athleticism on the field. We really like him as a corner. He has position versatility with the ability to play corner or safety at the next level, but we feel like the length and speed and ball skills he shows as a two-way player at the high school level really translates well to corner.”

4-star Aidan Anding

On3 Ranking: No. 18 CB, No. 168 overall prospect

School: Ruston (Louisiana) Ruston High
Status:
Committed to LSU
On3’s Scouting Take:
“Aidan Anding is a hyper competitive, athletic corner with outstanding ball skills,” Power said. “He’s playing great as a senior and was a clear stock up prospect at corner when going through the group nationally. He plays fast and has exceptional instincts both as a cover corner and run defender. While Pickett and Phillips might steal the headlines as the 5-star cornerbacks, Raymond has developed a long list of 4-star cornerbacks who went on to become starters for LSU and future NFL Draft picks. Anding is a fantastic addition to LSU’s corner class and room, and I’d expect him to make an impact along with the rest of the great haul that Corey Raymond is bringing in at the position.”
