LSU's Derrick Davis Jr. is transferring to Pitt
LSU sophomore Derrick Davis Jr. will transfer to Pittsburgh.
Davis, who entered the NCAA Transfer Portal in December but played in the team’s Citrus Bowl win over Purdue in January, will return to his home state of Pennsylvania to play for Pitt next season.
Davis made headlines late in the season when he moved from safety to running back to help alleviate depth concerns at the position.
Davis appeared in four games during the regular season, but it was a late-season win over UAB when the second-year defensive back moved to running back and logged five carries for 28 yards.
In the Citrus Bowl, Davis stepped back into the running back role in the fourth quarter and logged six carries for 29 yards and a touchdown.
Given Davis stayed on for the bowl game, questions loomed as to whether he might withdraw his name from the portal and remain at LSU, but Tuesday’s commitment to the Panthers puts an end to the speculation.
