LSU's Jersey Numbers: Early-Enrollees
The LSU football team begins spring practices on Thursday.
With the arrival of Brian Kelly’s second spring with the Tigers, the official roster was updated with new numbers for the players currently on campus.
Here’s the rundown on what numbers the double-digit high school early-enrollees will be wearing for the Tigers during their first season at LSU.
QB Rickie Collins – No. 10 – The four-star out of the Baton Rouge area will be LSU’s third-string quarterback following the transfer of Walker Howard. With Jayden Daniels and Garrett Nussmeier the top two quarterbacks on roster, Collins will get to use the spring as his first test run through LSU practices.
RB Trey Holly – No. 25 – Holly is the state’s all-time leading rusher at the high school level, an honor once held by other LSU running backs like Kenny Hilliard and Nick Brossette. It’s a deep running back room at LSU this offseason, but Holly will certainly make a run at competing for touches.
WR Jalen Brown – No. 14 – Brown is LSU’s fastest signee in the 2023 class, and the Miami native heads to Baton Rouge with hopes of carving out some early playing time. If that comes to fruition, it will start with a strong showing in spring practices.
WR Kyle Parker – No. 12 – Many analysts felt Parker might be the most college-ready of LSU’s four wide receiver signees, and we could see him compete at not just receiver but also as a potential return man.
TE Mac Markway – No. 84 – Markway battled injury in high school and missed the past two seasons, so it will be key for the freshman to use spring practices as a way to work himself back towards game shape ahead of the season. The Tigers don’t have many options at tight end, so a healthy Markway would go a long way towards helping strengthen the position.
TE Jackson McGohan – No. 83 – McGohan was a productive pass-catcher as a senior, and he will look to use the spring as a head start on competing for playing time next fall. Remember, the other two tight ends that are on the team won’t be part of spring practices. Returning starter Mason Taylor is recovering from offseason surgery, while promising four-star Ka’Morreun Pimpton doesn’t arrive until this summer. The door is open for Markway and McGohan to soak up the reps this spring.

EDGE Dashawn Womack – No. 49 – Womack is one of LSU’s five-star signees, but he’s going to be limited this spring given he had shoulder surgery shortly after his senior season. The goal is to get Womack healthy and ready for fall camp, because he has the talent to be an immediate impact player as a defensive end or edge rusher.
EDGE Jaxon Howard – No. 11 – The Minnesota native has some versatility to his game, but it seems he will start out his time at LSU with the JACK linebackers. Howard’s father was a second-round pick in the NFL Draft as a defensive lineman, giving LSU another player with pro bloodlines.
LB Whit Weeks – No. 40 – Weeks has tons of promise coming off a great senior season in Georgia, and he will get tons of work in the two-deep this spring – where he will often line up alongside his brother West Weeks. LSU needs all the linebacker help the defense can get, and Weeks is a good one.
CB Jeremiah Hughes – No. 29 – Hughes is the lone true cornerback the Tigers signed, and he heads to LSU out of a storied high school program at Bishop Gorman in Nevada.
DB Javien Toviano – No. 25 – Toviano was a huge land for LSU out of the Lone Star State, and he’s got the versatility to play safety or cornerback. Getting him onto campus as an early-enrollee was key for the staff.
S Ryan Yaites – No. 21 – Yaites will play safety in Baton Rouge, and it’s a position group that doesn’t bring back many players from the 2022 roster. That means the door is open to compete for playing time early in his career.
